Why "Open Jar Studios"?
Our name is inspired by the open jar flea experiment, where fleas trained in a closed jar stopped jumping beyond its limits—even after the lid was removed. This experiment symbolizes how imposed boundaries can limit potential.

Open Jar Studios was founded in 2018 by Jarvis McLeod, who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Radio, Television, and Film with a minor in Marketing from the University of North Texas. Jarvis' passion for film began at the age of 12 as an active member of his middle school A/V club and his church's A/V ministries. He was an International Baccalaureate Art and Film student in high school, where his short film was featured in the Dallas International Film Festival.
During his years at UNT, Jarvis gained valuable experience working at the school's television station and athletics video department, participating in the Short Film Club and AdClub. He also interned at a major commercial production studio, contributing to ad campaigns for renowned brands such as Chick-fil-A, Jack in the Box, Dell, Sewell, and Haverty's.
Driven by a desire to create more opportunities for his peers in the DFW area, Jarvis transitioned from freelancing to establishing Open Jar Studios in Richardson in 2021. The studio is dedicated to delivering high-quality media production and digital marketing services tailored to the needs of mid-market firms.
